How to distinguish between true and false bristles?

2. Wet

The bristles get soft when wet, while the imitation bristles don't get soft when wet.

3. Hot

Untreated bristles have an odor when exposed to heat and humidity, but imitation bristles do not.

4. Touch

Real bristles are relatively soft, delicate and elastic to the touch, while imitation bristles are hard, not tough enough, and inelastic.
